About Birgit Schneidmueller

Birgit M. Schneidmueller is a third year PhD student in Cinema and Media Studies at York University in Toronto. The focus of her research is the concept of narrative management strategies, based on the influence that digital media have on the process of creating and receiving narratives.
Her recent studies and educational background in film and media fuel her interest in the creative and pedagogical practices associated with new storytelling processes. Since her professional background is in Marketing, she is also interested in the commercial aspects of the topic. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Communication at Tulane University in New Orleans. In the Netherlands, she worked as a full time instructor in the Marketing department of Maastricht University, where she also earned her Master’s degree in Media Culture.
