The greatest part of administering this competition is announcing thewinners and hearing their plans for the year.  The worst part isknowing only a tiny fraction of applications can be funded--and wishingso many more could be.  There will be a third competition next year, ofcourse, but once again there will be winners and those not funded. That's life.  But I wish it weren't!  Too many worthy ones go unfundedand that is something no one likes . . .

Last year, in the wake of the announcements, I took on the role of mentor and teacher and wrote a number of blogs about winning, losing, reapplying, and learning from competitions past to be prepared for competitions future.  You can read one of those posts here and it will send you to still others:

To those who won, CONGRATULATIONS!!   And to those who did not, I know it seems like sour grapes but we hope the process of applying helped to catalyze your project and inspire you to inspire for other funding, other programs, other projects.  And we wish you all the greatest success with your projects.
