Blogging for Research and Teaching at UNAM
UPDATE:
You can view my slides here.
---
I am in Mexico City, and later today (5PM CDT) I will give a talk at the school of humanities at UNAM on blogging as a tool for teaching and research. It will be live streamed and the hashtag on Twitter will be #BlogHumX.
The talk will be live streamed on this channel from 5PM CDT: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/ficino
After my presentation I will upload my slides and embed them here on this post.
It is always tricky to talk about a theme like this, when there is likelihood of preaching to the converted, but I'm hoping the presentation will offer something new to both those who are already fully engaged in academic blogging and those who still have doubts or are looking forward to understanding better what all this blogging in academia business is about.
I will explain how blogging fits within different models of academic knowledge production and research cycles, discuss the importance of innovation and the positive power of disruptive change, explore blogging initiatives I personally admire and are engaged in, and suggest good practices and paths for future action.
I would like to thank publicly the Secretaría Académica for having invited me to give this talk.
