About McVeigh-Schultz
Joshua McVeigh-Schultz is a scholar and media maker whose work plays between the boundaries of documentary, performance, and design. He completed an MA in Asian Studies at UC Berkeley and an MFA at UCSC’s DANM (Digital Arts and New Media) program. At UCSC he designed a mobile interface that crowd-sources the traditional vox pop (“on the street”) video interview. The project, Synaptic Crowd: Vox Pop Experiments, attempts to mediate remotely distributed audiences as collaborative agents in the here-and-now of a public interview space. He recently started a PhD in Media Arts and Practice at the University of Southern California.
