Creating a Community

Several of my local library colleagues are interested in issues that I see as connected to HASTAC's mission. People are looking at digitization, digital humanities, educational technology, interdisciplinary work, and on and on. Many of us have been approaching these issues on our own, trying to understand them from our own perspectives. Today, over lunch, several of us decided to collaborate on these explorations and work together to find ways we can collaborate and help each other do more.

We decided to start with a blog (it will be located at blog.zsr.wfu.edu/thunder), and we'll use the space to share existing projects, wrestle with our role in these projects, and work towards a shared vocabulary to discuss them. I realize that HASTAC, itself, is a large scale collaboration. Does anyone else have something small and informal like this, locally?

After much fun discussion, we changed our mind. The blog will be at blog.zsr.wfu.edu/slash. (How meta, right?) SLASH stands for Studies in Librarianship and Scholarship in the Humanities.
