Five aspects of effective networks, in five minutes
This week I was honored to be a speaker at the inaugural Ignite Raleigh. This event gave 15 people the chance to pitch an interesting idea to the crowd at Raleigh's Lincoln Theater. The catch: you have 5 minutes and 20 slides in which to do it. In other words: "enlighten us, but make it quick."
Some of you (including Cathy and Steve) will notice a very strong resemblance between this format and the Japanese Pecha Kucha. The main differences I've noted are that Ignite only gives speakers 15 seconds per slide (as opposed to 20) and that many of the speakers are selected by the votes of the online community.
Below, I've embedded my slideshow but the real fun is seeing me fit it into 5 minutes (especially since it was based on a talk I usually give in 30-60 minutes!). When the video is available online, I will add that in the comments. As you can see from the photo of me at right, they really cultivate a rock-star atmosphere, but some presenters are better at maintaining that feel than others. ;-)
