DigitalOcean's "Students Saving the Ocean"
I spoke with Bruce Caron and Julie Robinson about their project, DigitalOcean: Sampling the Sea, one of the 2009 Digital Media & Learning winners. Right after we spoke, a screening of their film “Students Saving the Ocean” was uploaded, including clips from the documentary “Saving the Bay”; a presentation by David Helvarg and Jim Toomey, author and illustrator of the book “50 Ways to Save the Ocean”; and a keynote lecture on “Sustainable Fisheries” by Steven Gaines, director of UCSB’s Marine Science Institute and the newly appointed dean of the Bren School of Environmental Science & Management.
DigitalOcean is about bringing the power of social media to ocean science research, education, and outreach.
