Creating Space - Call for Proposals

 

We are seeking proposals which exemplify the excellent multidisciplinary work being done in the area of medical/health humanities in health professional classrooms and clinical sites, humanities classrooms, and artistic venues, and other related sites across Canada. How can we work to shape the future of health professional education in relation to the arts and humanities? What are some innovative models for teaching and learning, and collaboration across the disciplines? What are the theoretical bases for these educational innovations? To what end are these innovations directed? What evaluative frameworks might be developed?

 

We welcome proposals for:

         paper presentations (20 minutes, followed by a 10 minute discussion)

         panel presentation(1.5 hours)

         performances (30 minutes)

         poster presentations

 

Please submit the following (as a Microsoft Word document) to: wsmid@utoronto.ca

         the title of your presentation/performance

         your name(s) and institutional affiliation(s) including department(s), as appropriate (in the case of multiple authors/ presenters, please underline the name of the submitting/ presenting author)

         presentation format (paper, panel, poster, performance)

         a 200 word abstract (NB: in the case of a panel presentation, an abstract of up to 500 words may be submitted which describes the overall theme of the panel, and individual presentations)

         brief biographical statement for each presenting participant (100 words)

         your audiovisual needs

         your contact information (mailing address, email, phone and fax)

 

The deadline for receipt of submissions is January 21st, 2011. Abstracts will be reviewed, and results will be forwarded to the submitting author by mid-February.
