Department: Ctr Study of Amer SouthApplication Deadline: Open Until FilledRecruitment ID: 2501248Position Summary:Responsible for planning, development, and administration of projects for a leading oral history program, with an innovative online archive, a commitment to public engagement and teaching, and a publication agenda. Duties include conducting oral history workshops, supervising field workers, overseeing and/or maintaining the SOHP website as well as other internet-based and print media interpretations of the SOHP's work. Duties also include fundraising, as well as working collaboratively with other members of SOHP and Center for the Study of the American South staff. May include opportunity for adjunct teaching. Successful experience in oral history research and/or administration desired. Excellent writing and public speaking skills and familiarity with both standard office technology and advanced internet tools required. Ph.D. in history, folklore, anthropology, African American Studies, Southern Studies or a related field preferred. M.A. and advanced ABDs may apply.Education Requirements:Ph.D. in U.S. history preferred, or M.A.and advanced ABDs with two years' relevant experience in history or related fields in southern studies may apply.Qualifications and Experience:The ideal candidate will have academic and administrative experience relevant to the position summary above. Further, the candidate must be able to work independently on long-term projects, while at the same time performing an array of short-term tasks in a collaborative setting.
