Alison Buck is a doctoral student in Sociology at NC State University in Raleigh, NC. Her research interests include digital game companies and games work. Specifically, she is interested in how game companies manage conflicting demands and relate to other organizational and institutional actors within their environment. Alison’s dissertation research relates to how game companies elicit engaging and entertaining products from highly skilled workers in a highly competitive industry. She is currently part of a research team engaged in studying the economic impact of the digital games and interactive media industry on North Carolina’s economy and gauging the state of research, training, and academic collaboration relevant to digital games and the digital games industry.
