Daniel is a researcher with the Center for Research in Computing and the Arts (CRCA) at UC-San Diego, where he pioneers new methods in cultural analytics and game studies. While at CRCA he also co-founded Playpower, a non-profit initiative that garnered support from the MacArthur Foundation and HASTAC to further its goal of building affordable, effective and fun learning games to improve education around the world.
Building upon his vast experience in the digital humanities and user experience design, Daniel is now the director of the LA Game Space. The “Space” is a non-profit learning lab in Los Angeles that encourages participatory learning through collaborative game making. The volunteer-based lab offers workshops, mentor opportunities, guest lectures, and exhibitions to the public.
Daniel is also a practicing artist–designer who creates installations, live visuals, films, and experiences as the “me” of me+Sarah.
