Megan C. Bertelsen is an M.A. student with the Department of Comparative Literature at the University of Washington, emphasizing media studies. Prior to arriving at the University of Washington, she worked primarily in horror and splash cinema, queer theory, and critical theory. Her research interests include the uses of zombie film in non-cinematic discourses, contemporary Japanese horror and yakuza cinema, and maintenance of identity in sustained online gaming communities. She is currently concerned with legitimacy and economies of affect associated with role-playing games, particularly as varies between single-player and MMORPGs.
