I've been interested in science and mathematics, and especially genetics, since childhood. I went on to do qualifications in all 3, as well as in ecology and animal behaviour - so a true knowledge junky if ever there was one!
I love the idea that using the web you can help to spread knowledge and encourage people to think. Learning to think is the most important skill anyone can develop, but sometimes I think the education system actually (inadvertantly maybe) tends towards limiting that skill more than developing it.
Being a geneticist, with a amateur interests in formal logic, history and politics, I probably have a humanist outlook on life - more or less. There was some Roman philosopher from the mid first century AD - I'm not sure anyone knows exactly who he was, but he obviously wrote a lot because I've seen numerous thought provoking quotes of his. One of my favourites is that :
“Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by the rulers as useful.”
How far we have come since his time! I have this - controversial I'm sure - theory that humans have been selected (in the evolutionary sense) to be susectible to religious and superstitious beliefs (remember through time and space religion and superstion occur, and have occured, in so many and various guises).
As you can see horses are a passion of mine, a weakness I suppose given their decadent associations (you wouldn't think so when you're mucking them out in the cold, dark and rain, but I suppose there was a time the servants did that!). Should they be yours too, please visit
The Horse Web Site
I'm very interested in animal behaviour - including human behaviour - but especially in its association with horse training (yes, I know, you guessed that bit!). I've also recently wrritten a diploma in horse genetics, thus combining my two greatest interests, and have a website on this subject, where you can read more about me too

I also love Scuba diving, whenever I get a chance, which is never as often as I'd like! I once dived with a grey whale off the coast of California, but to tell the truth the most beautiful thing is diving shallow caves and grottos, or shallow reefs with the sunlight streaming through. Underwater the wonders of nature are truly that.
I also enjoy interacting with others, from different backgrounds and cultures, who have different perspectives in life - the web is great in this respect. As you can probably tell, I'm just about addicted to the web. Anyone trying to make sense of getting a successful website up and running might like to check out my latest website. I'm #1 and 2 for my keywords on Google for the horse genetics site - but it has been quite a part of my life! But getting my head around all this internet marketing stuff was no picnic - so much waffle and lingo to cut through (there's a free dictionary on my site should you need one!).

Now I'm off to have a nose around here and find out what's what!
